With Carmel & Vinca

Contempla was lucky enough to have the precious time of Carmel & Vinca, the lovely dancers in our music video Bapa Mengenalku.

How do you feel about the song?

(Carmel) It touched me very personally. The lyrics drew me into the feeling of “do not be afraid, the Father is always with me,” and there was a deep sense of calm as I understood each line, like being reminded again that I am known by the Father and that I am precious in His eyes.

(Vinca) What I felt when I heard the song was that it’s incredibly ear-catching. The melody is original. I’ve never heard anything quite like it before. Even the simple musical fills, I really love. The lyrics are amazing; they make me realize that I am His child, and He knows every aspect of my life. And as His child, my days are already in the Father’s hands, so why should I be afraid?

Any part of the lyrics that resonates with you?

(Carmel) Honestly, from the very first line, it was already deeply moving; it made me go, “Wow, it’s so true, the Father knows us personally, even from the womb.” But there’s a part that amazed me even more: “I am redeemed by His only Son,” so that we may receive life through Him.

(Vinca) For the lyrics, the part that hits me the most is, “I will not be afraid… Immanuel, the Father is with me.”

What was the inspiration behind the dance in that MV?

(Carmel) A few days before the video shoot, Mr. Yusak sent over a contemporary dance reference. From there, we used simple contemporary movements to express the message of the song, with the hope that those who hear and watch it would understand that there is Someone who knows us more deeply than anyone else.

(Vinca) Yeah, we developed it from the reference. It was fun!

Thank you, Carmel & Vinca, for making our little project even more beautiful. See you in the next projects!
